CouchPick — Privacy Policy

CouchPick (“the app”) helps you decide what to watch. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. CouchPick has no user accounts and does not ask for your name, email, or contacts.

1. Data stored only on your device

The following stays on your device (in the app’s local storage) and is never sent to or stored on our servers:

• Your lists (watchlist and watched titles);
• Your language and region preferences;
• Any third-party API keys you choose to enter (they are used only from your device).

You can delete this data at any time by removing items inside the app or clearing the app’s data/cache in your device settings.

2. Data sent when you request recommendations or search

When you ask for recommendations or search for a title, the titles, people, and preferences you enter are sent to our server (hosted on Cloudflare) and to the following third-party services to produce the results you asked for:

• Google (Gemini API) — to generate recommendations from your input;
• The Movie Database (TMDB) and JustWatch — to retrieve titles’ metadata (posters, overviews, ratings, and “where to watch” availability).

These requests are not linked to your identity. Your device’s IP address is processed by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) to deliver the service and to prevent abuse (for example, rate limiting). We do not use your input to build a personal profile of you.

3. Advertising

CouchPick may show ads through Google AdMob. When ads are active, AdMob may collect a device advertising identifier and limited usage data to serve and measure ads, as described in Google’s policies. 4. No account, no sign-in

The app does not require registration or login, and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, location (beyond the coarse region you choose), or contacts.

5. Children

CouchPick is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Data retention and deletion

On-device data (lists, preferences, keys) remains until you remove it. Requests sent to generate recommendations are processed to return results and are not retained to profile you. To remove all on-device data, clear the app’s data in your device settings.

7. Third-party services

CouchPick relies on the following providers, each governed by its own privacy policy: Google (Gemini API and AdMob), The Movie Database (TMDB), JustWatch, and Cloudflare (hosting).

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above.
